Pozo claims State championship for third time

It was a very special weekend for senior Caroline Pozo as she became only the second girls tennis player to win three singles State championships in Missouri Class 2 competition. Not only did she win the singles State championship, she also kept her streak of not losing a single set in three years of play intact. It was a rematch of last year’s State championship with Pozo squaring off against St. Joseph’s Ellie Burger, and just like last year she won convincingly, not even dropping a single set to Burger.

When asked about her thoughts on Pozo, Coach Donna Stauffer said, “Caroline has made history for the school and accomplished something done only one other time in the history of Class 2 tennis singles.”

This win wraps up Caroline Pozo’s high school career, but she will be playing on the collegiate level as she has verbally committed to play tennis at Northwestern University next year.
