Boys varsity cross country came in second at their first meet Aug. 25 at Parkway Central High School.

Last year, varsity took first place in conference and placed first at state. With an elite group of runners yet again, the team will look to repeat their success from last year.

This meet was pretty laid back due to the fact that it was the first meet of the season and participants only had to run two miles instead of the normal 5K. Seniors Alec Haines, Dylan Quisenberry, Ryan Rigabar and junior Clayton Hornberger and Austin Hindman ran in this race.

Hindman placed 1st and right behind him was Haines and then Quisenberry who finished 4th. Rigabar came in at 8th while Hornberger crossed the finish line in 54th place.

The Lancers fell just short in this meet coming in second with 60 points behind Festus High School who had 45 points.

The team will look to bounce back at the next meet this Saturday which will take place in Memphis, Tennessee on September 5.
