Lafayette boys cross country near top of new National rankings
October 16, 2015
The boys varsity cross country team is now currently ranked first in Missouri and second in the nation. The team participated in the Suburban West Conference meet on Oct. 10 and came in first place as a team finishing with only 18 points. Marquette High School came in second place with 69 points.
Junior Austin Hindman placed first place for Lafayette with a time of 15:24 and two seconds behind him was senior Alec Haines. Devin Meyrer, senior, placed third and senior Dylan Quisenberry placed fourth. The Lancers were rounded out by junior Tommy Laarman who finished eighth with a time of 16:26.
Lafayette will look to continue their dominance on Oct. 24 when they participate in the MSHSAA Class 4 District 2 meet. Last year Lafayette won in convincing fashion, scoring 29 points to beat Marquette High School by 63 points. If Lafayette prevails in this meet it will be on to State for the Lancers who claimed a first place title last year.
