Savor the Flavor of West County
Annual “eat-a-thon” fundraiser to be held Feb. 23
February 19, 2015
The 17th Annual Taste of West County (TOWC) will take place Monday Feb. 23 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m in the Gym. TOWC is an opportunity to try culinary samples and take part in a silent auction and raffle. It functions as a fundraiser for the Junior Class’ senior celebration that will take place next year. For restaurants in the area, it serves as a promotional opportunity.
“We have over 30 restaurants and this is the most sought after event in the community. We have over 700 people who buy tickets and enjoy the culinary delights,” Assistant Principal Kirti Mehotra said.
Ticket sales have been taking place in the Commons and will continue from Tuesday Feb. 17-Friday Feb. 20, according to Todd Decker, who supervises Junior Advisory meetings. Forms can also be picked up in each grade level office. An individual ticket is $12, and a Family Special of four tickets is $45. Raffle tickets are available for $10 each. The tickets can be picked up in the Welcome Center Hallway the night of the event.
Chris Foley, President of the Junior Class, will be volunteering with other members of Junior Advisory at the event.
“We’re focusing on gathering volunteers and that includes both student volunteers and adult volunteers. The adult committee deals with the restaurants and money so it relies on them,” Foley said.
Junior Advisory provides additional assistance during TOWC.
“The students volunteer to assist the vendors. They help set out the food. They help set up and they help clean up at the end,” Decker said.
