Counselor Marybeth Desloge awarded Counselor of the Year

A pleasant surprise came to guidance counselor Marybeth Desloge at the annual Counselor/Administrator Appreciation Breakfast, where she won the award of Rockwood School District High School Counselor of the Year.

Her friends and colleagues, without telling Desloge, nominated her for the award.

“I appreciate that they took the time and effort to follow up with the nomination process, which took a lot time and effort on their part,” Desloge said.

Choosing the winner of the award is a multi-stage process. Colleagues of the nominated must fill out forms explaining why they think the person in question should win the award.

Nominations are then reviewed by members of the Guidance Advisory Committee, a group made of  principals, counselors and parents, who then award the winner. Each nomination is nameless, so not even the committee knows who has won until the winner is announced.

“I would like to thank anyone who had a part in the nomination,” Deloge said.
