With the end of the school year rapidly approaching, the Senior Class has an opportunity to enjoy their last few weeks as a Lancer by attending the Senior field trip.
Assistant Principal Tim Jones said there are 300 tickets available for the April 29 Cardinals baseball game against the Atlanta Braves. Tickets cost $25.
“Students will leave after 3rd Hour. The game then starts around noon and is over by 3 p.m. and we’re back to school by 4 p.m.,” Jones said.
He added, “I worked it out with Mr. Berry [Activities Director] so there are no games after school for the varsity teams.”
Each ticket covers transportation to and from the stadium as well as a voucher for a hot dog and soda at the game.
“The ticket’s face value is at $29, we’re selling them at $25 with the voucher. So the ticket is less than face value. Plus, we have good seats in the right outfield. We are going to have some seats in the shade, some in the sun,” Jones said.
Jones said the Cardinals game is more popular than other previous Senior Field Trip destinations.
“We’ve been to the City Museum and Six Flags. But the kids have been on all the rides before so we were only getting about 200 student turnout,” Jones explained.
The day of the game also happens to be the Thursday before Prom weekend, which Jones thinks the game way serve an exciting start to the seniors’ memorable weekend.
“It’s a great timing to start the big weekend of Prom. I mean, who doesn’t like a Cardinals game? You get to enjoy the baseball game and hang out with your friends,” Jones said.
Seniors will be able to purchase a ticket from March 30-April 1 in the Commons during lunch.
