Lafayette cross country is running for State this year and is likely to get there. The varsity squad has several area leaders who have been pulling in wins for Lafayette. Not only has this varsity team been winning almost all of the meets, they have been setting cross country records here at Lafayette.

Junior Alec Haines set the Lafayette record in the 5K last Thursday during the Patriot Classic with a time of 15:33.00 .

“I wasn’t even aware that I beat the school record but it feels pretty cool knowing that I did,” Haines said. ” Our team has been pretty good this year and we have a lot of great runners, especially Quisenberry. He has nice hair,” Haines said.

Along with Haines, junior Dylan Quisenberry and junior Devin Meyer have been runners to watch, considering the amount of victories they have been bringing in for Lafayette. Quisenberry came in second place in the Forest Park race on Oct. 13, with a time of 15:46.40. Quisenberry is confident that the team is able to make it to state.

Quisenberry said, “We have been winning everything and we have been maintaining an overall good performance as a team. Everybody has been working hard and I think we could easily make it to state as a team.”

The boys are taking part in the Four Rivers Conference meet on Oct. 21 at 2:30 p.m.
