For the first time since 2012, the Lafayette football team ended their regular season undefeated after their Mayor’s Bowl win against Marquette, 43-15, on Friday, Oct. 24.
“I just feel happy for the kids. The kids made this type of history,” said Coach Curt Mueller.
To start the game, the Mustangs shanked the kickoff allowing for the Lancers to return the ball to the 41 yard line. Soon after, Lafayette scored their first touchdown of the night, a pass play from senior quarterback Brady Micek to junior running back Cody Keen. The Lancers decided to go for the two-point conversion but were unsuccessful, making the score 6-0 in the early goings of the first quarter.
