Trailing 28-19 deep in the fourth quarter, the Jr. Billikens attempted a field goal, but the Lancer defense came up big, as junior linebacker Jake Kolb blocked the attempt and senior linemen Jack Gebel recovered the ball.
SLUH would later score a touchdown, but they failed to convert the two-point conversion, resulting in Lafayette winning the Class 6 District 2 semifinal at home, Nov. 7, 28-25.

The blocked field goal was just one of many highlight plays for the Lancer defense. They also blocked a PAT, forced a sack and a fumble, and also had two interceptions, including a 56-yard pick-six by senior defensive back Terance Bills.

Bills’ pick-six came right before the end of the first half, to give Lafayette a 28-13 lead. Early in the half, senior quarterback Brady Micek rushed into the endzone to make the score 7-0, and three minutes later junior running back Cody Keen extended the lead, 14-0, with his 13-yard rushing touchdown.
Keen led the team in rushing yards with 87, while Micek rushed for 57 yards and also had 184 passing yards.
SLUH quickly responded in the second quarter, after senior running back Keenan Harris scored a 28-yard rushing touchdown.
The Jr. Billikens then recovered a fumble in the end zone to score their second touchdown. However, the Lancers blocked the PAT, retaining their lead, 14-13.

Momentum quickly shifted as Micek found senior wide receiver Chase Roeder in the endzone for a 15-yard touchdown, making the score 21-13.

In the second half, SLUH took over offensively, scoring two touchdowns, but the Lancer defense held strong stopping back-to-back two-point conversions and blocking a field goal, to see out a Lancer win.
This performance is just one of many impressive showings by the Lafayette defense, who have allowed just 94 points this season and have forced 23 turnovers across 10 games.
They also have 15 sacks on the season, with senior defensive linemen Baron James having 8 of them. Senior defensive back Tim Washington leads the team in interceptions with 5.
Lafayette (10-0) will travel to CBC next week, to face off the Cadets (10-0) in the Class 6 District 2 championship.
Both teams are undefeated on the season, and are believed by many to be two of the best teams in Missouri.
