Baseball
The Lancers took on Eureka May 3 and won, 7-2. Senior Zach Hoffman had four RBI in four at bats. Junior Jack Stauss pitched six innings with seven strikeouts and was the winning pitcher in the game. The Lancers then faced off against Eureka again May 4 and lost, 3-1. Senior Derek Chanski drove in the lone Lancer run during the game, with junior Sam Williams throwing a complete game with three strikeouts. The Lancers next take on Francis Howell Central at Francis Howell Central May 9 at 4:30 p.m., Chaminade at 4:15 p.m. at home May 10 and Parkway South at Parkway South May 11 at 4:30 p.m. The Lancers took on Francis Howell Central May 9 with a tough battle ending with a lose of 11-5
Girls Lacrosse
The Lady Lancers had a three-game winning streak. On May 3, they faced Ladue in an away game and won, 14-4. Juniors Kara Niewoehner and Natalie Tomljenovic both scored four goals in the game. On May 5, they beat Villa Duchesne at home, 20-7. Sophomore Adalia Romero scored five goals during the game and Tomljenovic also scored five goals during the game. On May 6, in their closest game of the week, they beat MICDS, 8-7. Senior Ansley Hails scored five goals during the game. Their current record is 11-5 after their successful games this week. Next week, they will play an away game at Eureka, which the Lancers won, 8-7, before going up against John Burroughs May 11 at 4:30 p.m.
Boys Lacrosse
The Lancers took on Lindbergh May 4 and dropped a close game, 9-8. Junior Baylor Adamovsky scored four goals during the game. The Lancers then faced off against Eureka May 7 and lost, 17-4. Junior Cole Ohlmes scored three out of the four Lancer goals during the game. The Lancers have an overall season record of 7-8.
Boys Golf
The Lancers defeated Webster Groves, 246-257 May 3. The Lancers then finished in second place as a team at the Suburban Conference Yellow Pool Tournament May 4. Senior Trip Sanfelippo finished in first place individually, senior Kyle Rinkenberger finished in fifth place individually and sophomore Reid Fortel who finished in tenth place individually. On May 9, the Lancers placed 4th overall at MSHSAA Districts. Senior Trip Sanfelippo finished fourth place individually, senior Kyle Rinkenberger placed sixth individually, qualifying for State Championship in Cape Girardeau, MO May 16-17.
Girls Soccer
The Lancers have had nothing but wins this week, winning every game in shutout fashion. On May 2, the Lancers faced Fort Zumwalt West at home and won, 2-0. The team then dominated Fox with a 5-0 win May 3. When playing against Fox, senior Rylee Howard led the team with two goals, alongside senior Ana McClellan and sophomores Emily Derucki and Allie Kinner, who each scored a goal. Howard has been scoring goals all season, currently placed 15th in the area for girls varsity who have scored the most this season with a total of 24 goals so far. The team also faced Eureka and won, 1-0. The Lancers also faced off against Marquette May 9 and won, 4-0. They will be preparing for Districts this week, which will be taking place at Francis Howell May 12 at 6 p.m.
Girls Track and Field
The Lancers participated in the Suburban May 5 and finished in first place with total of 130.5 points. Senior Paige Halter finished in fifth place in the 100-meter dash. Senior Erica Shelton finished in seventh place in the 200-meter dash. In the 400-meter dash, freshman Avery Brown finished in first place and junior Elissa Barnard finished in second place. In the 800-meter run, freshman Lauren Pauls finished in second place. Junior Grace Tyson finished in first place in the 1600-meter run. Sophomore Natalie Barnard finished in first place in the 3200-meter run and junior Blair Lobdell finished in fourth place in the same event. Junior Chiara Bouckaert finished in eighth place in the 100-meter hurdles event. Bouckaert also finished in fourth place in the 300-meter hurdles event. In the 4×100-meter relay, the Lancers finished in fifth place with a time of 52.57. The Lancers also finished in fifth place in the 4×200-meter relay, with a time of 1:53.95. In the girls 4×400-meter relay, the Lancers finished in fourth with a time of 4:36.50. In the 4×800-meter relay, the Lancers finished in first place with a time of 9:42.92. In the girls high jump event, junior Layne Witherspoon finished in third place and freshman Maya Witherspoon finished in fourth place. In the girls long jump event, freshman Addison Surber finished in third place. In the girls triple jump event, freshman Maya Witherspoon finished in second place. In the girls discus event, junior Emma Durfee finished in fourth place. In the girls shot put event, junior Alexandra Franke finished in fifth place. The Lancers next participate in MSHSAA Class 5 District 5 Meet May 14 at Eureka High School.
Boys Track and Field
The Lancers had participated May 5 at the Suburban Conference Yellow Pool Meet which was held at Kirkwood High School. Their next meet will be May 14 at the MSHSAA Class 5 District 5 Meet hosted by Eureka High School. In the boys 100-meter dash, senior Johnathan Marshall finished in fourth place. In the boys 200-meter dash, senior Alexander Wildt finished in first place. In the boys 400-meter dash, senior Alexander Wildt finished in fifth place. In the boys 800-meter run, senior Samuel Aven finished in fourth place. In the boys 1600-meter run, senior Nikolas Malek finished in second place and senior Bross Miller finished in fourth place. In the boys 3200-meter run, Malek finished in second place and sophomore Jack Robeson finished in third place. In the boys 110-meter hurdles event, sophomore Issac Jovceski finished in third place. In the boys 300-meter hurdles event, freshman Santino Stith finished in fourth place. In the 4×100-meter relay, the Lancers finished in fourth place with a time of 44.50. In the boys 4×200-meter relay, the Lancers finished in fourth place with a time of 1:33.09. In the boys long jump event, sophomore Issac Jovceski finished in fifth place. In the boys triple jump event, sophomore Issac Jovceski finished in fourth place and freshman Thomas Preckel finished in fifth place. In the boys pole vaulting event, senior Ryan Swan finished in fifth place. In the boys discus event, senior Landon Oelschlaeger finished in third place.
Boys Tennis
On May 3, the Lancers took on the Parkway Central Colts on the road and lost, 5-4. Their May 2 game against Timberland was rained out. On May 5-6, the Lancers participated in Districts Individually, but no Lancer passed the first round. The Lancers are set to face Kirkwood at Kirkwood on May 9 for the first round of Team Districts. On May 9, the Lancers lost in the first round of Districts against Kirkwood with a score 5-4.
Boys Volleyball
The Lancers went up against the Parkway South Patriots May 2, beating them in all three sets and junior Matt Haefner and sophomore Sean Meyer both scored seven points. The team hosted the Marquette Mustangs May 5, and ended up beating them in all three sets, and junior Cooper Willams scored nine points for the team. In the final game of the week, the Lancers hosted the Cape Notre Dame Bulldogs May 6, and beat them in all three sets. The Lancers also faced Rockwood Summit May 9 and won, sweeping the Falcons in three sets. The Lancers face off against Francis Howell May 11 at 5:30 p.m. and Francis Howell Central May 12 at 5:30 p.m. Continuing their winning streak, the Lancers beat Rockwood Summit May 9 with a score 3-0.
Girls Water Polo
The Lancers beat Parkway North, 11-6 May 6 with senior Casey Murphy scoring five points. They will advance to the State Semifinals next week. Junior Ansley Lewis said she is happy for her team’s advance. “It feels amazing, it’s a really big achievement for our team because it’s the first time Lafayette girls have won a game in the state tournament,” Lewis said.
Boys Water Polo
The Lancers took on CBC and lost, 17-13 May 2, with senior Dylan Vorbeck scoring four goals. The Lancers then took on Lindbergh May 7 in the first round of Districts and lost, 16-9, with Vorbeck continuing his strong showing by scoring five goals during the game.
