Baseball

The Lancers finished fifth in the Lindbergh/Mehlville Tournament to start their season. Lafayette beat Hazelwood West March 26, 4-2, with senior Grant Campbell having three hits and one RBI in the game. The team then took on Francis Howell Central March 28 and lost, 3-1. Senior Zach Hoffman drove in the lone Lancer run in the game. The Lancers were then shut out by Fort Zumwalt West March 29, 6-0. On April 1, The Lancers faced Troy-Buchanan, winning, 4-2. Junior Cannon Stuckey drove in three out of the four Lancer runs in the game. The Lancers had a doubleheader April 2. They won in blowout fashion against Rockwood Summit, 17-1. The Lancers had an eight-run third inning and a six-run fourth inning. Hoffman had another strong showing during the game, driving in four runs. In the second game of the doubleheader, the Lancers faced off again against Francis Howell Central, losing, 13-8. Juniors Charlie Berry and PJ Rogan both drove in two runs during the game. The Lancers currently have a 5-5 overall record. The Lancers play next against Lindbergh at Lafayette April 5 at 4:15 p.m. The Lancers have a 21-10 all-time record against the Flyers.

Girls Lacrosse

The Lady Lancers had their first game scheduled against MICDS March 30, but it was canceled due to weather. On April 2, they played their official first game at home against Briarcrest Christian from Tennessee. Lafayette lost, 14-8. This week, the Lady Lancers will face off against Pattonville April 6 and against Kirkwood April 8 in two away games. Senior captain Ansley Hails said, “I think the team looks really good, and while there are definitely things to work on, I’m really excited for the upcoming games.”

Boys Lacrosse

The Lancers started their season by taking on MICDS March 8 and lost, 23-5. Junior Baylor Adamovsky scored all five Lancer goals in the game. The Lancers then rebounded March 10 and beat Francis Howell, 16-11. Junior Cole Ohlms scored seven goals in the game. The Lancers then faced off against Rock Bridge March 16 and won, 19-8. Both Adamovsky and Ohlms had a strong showing, with Adamovsky scoring six goals in the game and Ohlms scoring four goals in the game. Continuing their streak, the Lancers beat Rockwood Summit, 16-11, March 30. The Lancers will take on Parkway West at Crestview Middle School April 5 at 5:45 p.m.

Boys Golf

The Lancers defeated Pattonville by 36 strokes March 29. Senior Trip Sanfelippo was the match medalist with a score of 38. The Lancers then took on Marquette March 31 and lost, 245-259. Sophomore Reid Fortel had a score of 39 and was three over par. The Lancers participated in the Seckman Invitational April 1 and finished in first place with 312 points. Sanfelippo had the lowest 18-hole score, with a score of 73 and he was two over par. Senior Kyle Rinkenberger had a score of 74 and was three over par. Fortel had a score of 79 and was eight over par. Fortel, Rinkenberger and Sanfelippo were all medal winners at the event.

Girls Soccer

In the first game of the season March 29, the Lady Lancers shut out Parkway South, winning,  3-0. Seniors Rylee Howard and Mikayla Morales along with sophomore Allie Kinner were responsible for the win with assists from sophomore Emily Derucki and Kinner. The team was unable to play on March 30 against Oakville because of rain but were prepared when they faced Nerinx Hall on April 2. Though Howard and Kinner were able to score a total of three goals that game, Nerinx Hall went home with the win, 4-3. The team will be going up against Lindbergh April 5 at home at 6 p.m. They’ll also face Timberland for an away game April 8 at 6 p.m.

Girls Track and Field

The Lady Lancers participated in the Festus McCullough-Douglas Invitational March 26 and finished in eighth place. Senior Paige Halter finished in first place in the 100-meter dash and junior Grace Tyson finished in first place in the 3200-meter run. Tyson also finished in second place in the 1600-meter run. Junior Elissa Barnard finished in third place in the 800-meter run and finished in third place in the 3200-meter run. In the 400-meter relay, the Lady Lancers finished in third place with a time of 53.37. In the 4×400-meter relay and the 4×800-meter relay, the Lady Lancers finished in ninth place, with times of 4:32.61 and 11:01.29, respectively.  The Lady Lancers then participated in the Rockwood Girls Quad, finishing in second place. Halter again finished in first place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.12. Freshman Avery Brown finished in first place in the 400-meter dash. Along with Brown, freshman Lauren Pauls finished in third place in the same event. Tyson finished in first place in the 1600-meter run along with Elissa and Natalie Barnard taking third and fourth place, respectively.  In the 3200-meter run, sophomore Ashley Rinkenberger finished in second place. In the 300-meter hurdles event, junior Sophia Weiss finished in third place. The Lady Lancers finished in third place in the 4×100-meter relay, the 4×200-meter relay and the 4×400-meter relay. The Lady Lancers finished in first place in the 4×800-meter relay. Freshman Maya Witherspoon finished in first place in the high jump. Witherspoon finished in second place in the long jump. Maya and Junior Caitlyn Little took first and second place, respectively, in the triple jump. Seniors Nicole Linsenbardt and Grace Rigabar took the top two spots in the pole vaulting event. Durfee finished in second place in both the discus event and the javelin event.  The Lady Lancers next participate in the Northwest Invitational April 9.

Boys Track and Field

The Lancers participated in the Festus McCullough-Douglas Invitational March 26 and finished twelfth place with a score of 35.5. In the 1600-meter run, junior Lukas Groenewald finished in third place with a time of 4:32.37. In the 400-meter relay, the Lancers finished in first place with a time of 45.51. The Lancers finished in fourth place in the 1600-meter relay, with a time of 3:38.24. They took first place in the 3200-meter relay with a time of 8:16.82. The Lancers also participated in the Lindbergh Boys Flyer Track and Field Classic April 2 and finished in second place with 101 points. Senior Alexander Wildt finished in second place in the 200-meter dash. Sophomore Jack Robeson finished in third place in the 800-meter run. Robeson also finished in fifth place in the 1600-meter run. Senior Nikolas Malek finished in third place in the same event.  The Lancers finished in fourth place in the 4×100-meter relay and finished in second place in the 4×200-meter relay. The Lancers took the top spot in the 4×800-meter relay. They also took first place in the distance medley relay.  He also finished in second place in the long jump event. The Lancers next participate in the Northwest Invitational April 9.

Boys Volleyball

The Lancers faced off against the Parkway West Longhorns March 29. They defeated the Longhorns in four sets, with the Lancers winning the second, third and fourth sets. Sophomore Kyle Kubasta scored 17 points in total. Later in the week, the Lancers went up against the Fox Warriors March 30, sweeping the Warriors in three sets. With another strong showing, Kubasta scored 17 points over the three sets, followed by junior Will Scott, who scored 16 points. The Lancers next take on Kirkwood Pioneers April 5 at 5:30 p.m.

Girls Water Polo

The Lady Lancers started the season March 17 by taking on Ladue and winning, 17-10. Senior Casey Murphy scored five goals during the game and also had five assists. The Lady Lancers participated in the St. Charles North Tournament March 19 in Illinois and finished in fourth place. The Lady Lancers lost, 14-6, against Oakville March 28. The Lady Lancers then rebounded, winning, 14-12, against Parkway North March 31. Sophomore Mera Flores sees the team’s constant effort throughout the Parkway North game as a success. “We kept trying to improve and correct things and we always communicated and cheered each other on,” Flores said. The Lady Lancers next face off against Parkway North again at Oakville April 7 at 5:30 p.m.

Boys Water Polo

The Lancers started the season by taking on Parkway Central March 14 and lost, 14-4. The Lancers scored a goal in each quarter, leading to the four Lancer goals in the game. The Lancers participated in the Schaumburg Tournament and finished in third place. Despite a five-goal performance from senior Braden Klipsch, the Lancers lost to Oakville March 28, 10-8. The Lancers participated in the Founders Cup Invitational between April 1-2, finishing sixth place overall. In the tournament, Lancers defeated Clayton, 16-4, with senior Dylan Vorbeck scoring seven goals in the game. They then took on Kirkwood and lost, 13-6, with Vorbeck again having a strong showing, scoring five goals. The Lancers then faced off against Marquette and won, 9-6. Vorbeck continued his stand-out performance with six goals during the game. Finally, the Lancers took on Parkway Central and lost, 14-8. However, Vorbeck continued to score, with five goals during the game. In the entire tournament, Vorbeck scored 23 goals. The Lancers now have an overall record of 5-5 for the season. The Lancers next participate in the MICDS Invitational Tournament April 7-9, playing Rockwood Summit April 8 at 7:30 p.m., Marquette April 9 at 8 a.m. and MICDS April 9 at 10:45 a.m.
