Girls swimming scores big with two wins; boys wrestling continues season undefeated

Boys basketball: In their first game of the week on Dec. 15, the Lancers fell to Oakville, 68-59. Senior Sam Murray left a strong impact on the game, scoring 26 of the Lancer’s 59 points. The team also lost against District rival Marquette, 54-33 on Dec. 18. Junior Matt Jones led the team with 11 points. The Lancer’s current record sits at 3-4, and they look to bring their record back up to .500  against Eureka on Dec. 22 at EHS at 7 p.m. They will also be playing in a varsity tournament over break Dec. 28-30.

Boys wrestling: The Lancers extended their win streak on Dec. 16 with a 66-21 victory against Lindbergh. On Dec. 17, they took the Fort Zumwalt North Quad, moving 8-0 on the season. In the quad, they beat the home team, 60-13 with State champion senior Evan Boren defeating another State medalist. The Lancers also beat Fox and Vianney with dominating scores of 75-3 and 79-0 respectively. Their next appearance will be on Dec. 31 at the Fort Zumwalt North tournament.

Girls basketball: The Lady Lancers posted their first win of the week against Oakville on Dec. 15. The score was 40-36 with senior Brynn Jeffries once again leading the team with 22 points. Defensively, junior Rachel Delaney led with five rebounds. Unfortunately, the team fell 54-37 to Marquette on Dec. 18. Jeffries once again led the team with 10 points. The team’s record now sits at 6-2. The Lady Lancers will play four games over break, the first on Dec. 22 against Eureka, then Dec. 26 at MICDS, on Dec. 28-29, they’ll play against Pattonville and Kirkwood respectively at MICDS.

Girls swimming and diving: The Lady Lancers defeated Lindbergh on Dec. 15. They outswam and outdove the Flyers, 151-32. On Dec. 17, they continued their win streak against Parkway Central, where they outscored the Colts, 136.5-49.5.

Girls wrestling: After a couple of losses in the last week, the Lady Lancers bounced back Dec. 16, defeating Lindbergh, 30-24. In the match, junior Faith Cole scored big with a win by pin against her opponent.  The girls are not in action again until after the Winter Break.

Hockey: The Lancers posted a 404 tie in their first game of the week against CBC on Dec. 14. Senior Justin Sprague scored two goals for the Lancers and senior Samuel Rubenstein and sophomore Andrew Knapp each had one. The Lancers later lost against Marquette, 2-0.
