With areas like The Hill and a strong local Italian community it’s safe to say that the St. Louis area has plenty Italian restaurants. But if you want an authentic Italian meal without heading to The Hill then Babbo’s Spaghetteria can satisfy any Italian craving.
Located in the Chesterfield Valley on Chesterfield Airport Rd. Babbo’s is the second restaurant opened by Michael del Pietro, with his other restaurant Sugo’s Spaghetteria located in Frontenac.
The menu includes the typical Italian fair from pastas to pizzas. The appetizers selection offers marinated olives and cheese plate and, of course, a delicious spread of bruschetta with plenty of fresh garlic and basil.
The salad selection is nothing impressive with the choice of Caesar, field greens and a “Del Pietro” salad with a mixture of iceberg and romaine lettuce. But my eyes skipped right over the salad section of the menu and landed on the eight different pasta options Babbo’s offers.
This is where the true challenge starts for me. Every dish sounds amazing from the Bolognese to the Pollo Alfredo, however I finally decided on the homemade Lasagna.
The dish tasted super fresh and honestly homemade. There was no shortage on the meat sauce in between each layer of pasta and the portion size was descent, but definitely not massive by any means.
However, if pasta isn’t your addiction like it is for me then Babbo’s also offers five specialty “Neapolitan” pizzas along with the option to create your own pie.
So if you’re stricken with a serious Italian craving a trip to Olive Garden just isn’t going to cut it stay on Chesterfield Airport Road and head to Babbo’s Spaghetteria for some authentic Italian fare.
