For the 2010-2011 school year, 174 Lafayette students received an AP Scholar Award.
Christina Schmidtt was announced as a State AP Scholar, an award only given to two students per state every year. The State AP Scholar has to score at three or higher on the greatest number of exams and has the highest average score.
The National AP Scholar award was given to 19 students, who had to score a four or higher on at least eight exams.
“I think it’s outstanding, shows the effort of the students and teachers,” Assistant Principal Tim Jones said.
The other awards granted were the AP Scholar with Distinction, given to 79 students; AP Scholar with Honor, to 40 students; and AP Scholar, to 55 students.
“[The AP Awards] validate the hard work of the staff, students and parents working together; it’s good to be recognized,” Jones said.
The following students recieved the National AP Scholar award: Michael Brown, Steven Elser, Christian Followell, Kendra Fullmer, Sarah Hereford, Siri Kommareddy, Timothy Kuklo, Kelly Lamarche, Jacob Lamberth, Chris Lenz, Richard Lu, Eric Moser, Justin Nauman, Rachel Philiph, Amanda Prescott, Christina Schmidtt, Matt Thoelke, Jacqueline Yap and Anastasiya Zamskaya.
