Humans of Lafayette: Meet Christian Sosa

Junior has talents that benefit him at home

Junior Christian Sosa has made a reputation for himself as a handyman. Sosa has been crafting items out of everyday goods for the past few years, saving time and money with his skills.

Sosa said, “I make cool things out of clay like spoons, forks, and bowls. I started last summer because I was trying to find a way to make things naturally, and you can dig up clay pretty much anywhere.”

Not only does Sosa make utensils and eating devices, but he dabbles in clothing design. After being taught how to sew, Sosa has been tailoring clothing in order to save money on his wardrobe.

Sosa said, “I sew things pretty often, too. I made a shirt once, but its sizing got messed up and it didn’t fit too well. I sew on buttons, I can alter shirts, and I can hem things. Sometimes I wear the clothes I sew; I have like two shirts that are long sleeve I wear. I just do it for fun.

Along with clothing and clay creations, Sosa has done some pretty impressive things with woodworking. He even restored his ancient record player that was originally built in 1912, by hand. Although woodworking isn’t his top priority, he still has developed his skills enough to bring a century old record spinning device back from the dead.

When asked if he thinks he’ll be a good house husband in the future he said, “Problems usually start at home, so if you can fix as many as possible you’ll be in good shape!”
