Explore STL is a guide on St. Louis and its attractions. Dedicated to showcasing and promoting various local events around or beyond the St. Louis area, Explore STL has various activities listed with descriptions on its website and social media accounts. Events range from carnivals, exhibits and museums to dining places, shopping centers and hotels.

With the winter season, Explore STL has promoted many diverse upcoming winter events that will be happening between January and March.

These are just a few upcoming winter-related events and activities for visitors to explore around St. Louis that are listed on the Explore STL website.

Hidden Valley Ski Resort

Hidden Valley officially started its winter season Jan. 15. The Polar Plunge Tubing Park opened Jan. 19.

To access the Hidden Valley area, visitors can purchase daily tickets and seasonal passes online on the Hidden Valley website or in person at the ticket office. Visitors can also rent equipment and purchase lessons.

Visitors can also access the Lodge where food and drink are available.

Additionally, Feb. 3 and Feb. 17 from 2-5 p.m., the resort will host the Up to Snow Good music series, which features live music on the Hidden Valley patio.

Every Sunday throughout Jan. 14-Feb. 25 at 3 p.m., visitors can also enjoy the Sunday S’mores with Nature Valley event, where free s’mores will be served.

Cozy Cider Cabin

Located at Eckert’s Farm in Belleville, Illinois, Cozy Cider Cabin is a popup bar that runs Jan. 10-Feb. 25 every Wednesday-Sunday from 4-9 p.m. According to their website, the popup bar is meant to mimic the feeling of a cabin in the woods so visitors can still preserve their winter holiday spirit even when the holidays are over.

Cozy Cider Cabin serves a variety of food and drink from the menu including homemade chips and dip, charcuterie boards and buffalo ranch popcorn.

The entry fee to visit is $5 and all the money collected is donated to Heat Up St. Louis, a non-profit organization.

Cozy Cider Cabin is located at 951 S Green Mt Rd, Belleville, IL 62220.

Ice Jam at the Dam

Located at the National Great Rivers Museum, the 3rd annual Ice Jam at the Dam will be held on Feb. 17, from 12-4 p.m.

According to their website, with free admission, this event promotes outdoor winter activities, some of which include live music, dam tours, educational booths and live animal observations. Food and drink vendors will be available as well.

Visitors are also encouraged to look for American bald eagles hunting along the Mississippi River.

Ice Jam at the Dam will be located at Alton, IL 62002.

Steinberg Ice Rink 

Open Nov. 19-March 3, the Steinberg Skating Rink is an ice rink located in Forest Park.  

The rink offers multiple activities for visitors, including open skating and private parties. 

Anyone who wishes to visit must first book their activity of choice online.

General admission is $10 and group admission is $14. Skates can be rented for $6. Skate aides are also available for visitors with prices ranging from $10-$15. Lockers at the rink cost between $0.75-$1.50, depending on the size. 

There are three tiers of private parties available as well, bronze, silver and gold. Bronze parties cost around $225-$350. Gold is the highest tier of parties, costing around $500-$625. The main difference between the tiers is the amount of drinks and food available. All tiers offer one hour of party time, skates and all-day skating. 

The rink is open Monday-Thursday 3-9 p.m., Friday 3-11 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m.-11 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.-8 p.m.

The Steinberg Ice Rink is located at 400 Jefferson Dr, St. Louis, MO 63110.

Holiday Exhibition

Using holiday colors, the Holiday Exhibition ‘Let the Colors Begin’ will showcase artwork from several different Atrium Artists. 

According to the Explore STL website, the exhibition hopes to set the mood for the season and inspire other artists.

This event began Dec. 7 and will end Jan. 27, and takes place at the Atrium Gallery.

Tickets are free and open to the public. The gallery is open from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. but is closed Mondays and Sundays. The Holiday Exhibition is open to the public.

Disney on Ice’s ‘Find Your Hero’

From Feb. 1-4, the Enterprise Center will host the show ‘Find your Hero’ by Disney on Ice. 

The performance will feature scenes from movies like Moana, Encanto and will also have Disney princesses including Elsa, Ariel and Rapunzel. 

The performers will act in various ice skating scenes over set designs wearing different costumes.

Multiple performances will take place each day, and they all will either happen at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. or 7 p.m.

Tickets for the show can be purchased at Enterpirsecenter.com or Ticketmaster and prices range from $20 to $75.

Zosia Paciorek
Four year staffer Zosia Paciorek is heavily involved in tennis. Placing 2nd in the Missouri Team Championships, Paciorek also values giving back to her community through the sport. Starting her adaptive tennis program for young athletes with disabilities, Paciorek has been running this inclusive camp for a year now where athletes get one-on-one coaching from volunteers. Apart from her passion for tennis, Paciorek dedicated herself to student journalism since freshman year at LHS. Having written over 40 stories, Paciorek has gained experience in the field of journalism and is excited to continue her journey this year.

With over three years of experience, senior Rishit Sohaney has specialized as a beat reporter for Lafayette sports, working to expand the sports coverage of the Lancer Feed. Outside of journalism, he enjoys working out, watching soccer and believes in working smarter, not harder.
