This lancer banner was added to the front gym in 1991. This banner features the Louie the Lancer on his horse.

The Lancer mascot has taken on different forms throughout Lafayette’s history. Each is represented throughout the school in murals, clock faces and even the floor of the Commons. Lafayette community members have different ideas of what the Lancer looks like but share beliefs in its impact on our school.

Many animals are taken care of and available for adoption at Open Door Animal Sanctuary. Located approximately 30 minutes away, students can also apply to be volunteers there.

Phone practices across Rockwood are relatively similar, with an baseline expectation that phones are away during instructional time. While most high schools in the district ask phones be put away completely for the entirety of class, Lafayette is the only school that allows teachers to decide the expectations in their own classroom.

The original graduation date for the Class of 2024 was set to be May 29 at the Chaifetz Arena. However, on Aug. 3, the BOE voted to change Graduation to May 11. When Rockwood posted about the change on Facebook, many parents took to the comments to voice their concerns and support.
