Although it may seem to be nothing special upon first glance, Spirits and Gyros is more than your average Greek restaurant.

The restaurant, which is located in a strip mall at 15581 Manchester Road, conveys a sense of comfort and warmth by covering their front patio with plants, lights and colorful furniture.

Rather than having a small, family-run feel like many other Greek restaurants in the St. Louis area, Spirits and Gyros is trendy, appealing to a younger age group.

The ceiling is covered in varying electric lights, which compliment the stone-covered bar and dark tones throughout the restaurant.

Although Spirits and Gyros is very visually inviting, the space is rather small, making it tight when it is busy.

Not only was the vibe of the restaurant appealing, but the food was also superb.

Spirits and Gyros offers a wide variety of Greek cuisine, ranging from various types of gyros, salads, kebabs, sandwiches and baklava.

The lamb was flavorful, the pita soft and, most importantly, the tzatziki sauce was light and refreshing.

Spirits and Gyros also proves to be wallet-friendly, with each gyro costing around $9.

Despite the tasty food and put-together nature of the decor, there are some incohesive qualities in Spirits and Gyros. Rather than ordering condiments or being given silverware, there is a small stand against the back wall with condiments, disposable utensils and napkins. Although there is nothing wrong with this, it clashes with the feel of the restaurant.

All in all, Spirits and Gyros is a great option for good quality Greek food at a great price, while maintaining the “upscale” feeling.
