Mystery Solved: De-synced school clocks

Why were the clocks in the three minutes off from your phone?

Imagine waking up, checking your phone, and realizing that you’re late. You hurriedly throw on some clothes and run out the door. While pulling into the parking lot, you check your phone. You have three minutes to get to class, it should be easy to get to class on time. Right? Wrong. The school clock doesn’t match your phone, so now you’re tardy.

For the past few weeks, the clocks in the school did not sync up with the clocks on the students’ phones. Recently, the clocks have been restored to having the correct time, but why were they so off in the first place?

Well the answer is simple, nobody knows.

Jill Ralph, Principal John Shaughnessy’s secretary, is in charge of putting in work orders for when things go awry in the building.

“[The clocks] just do that on their own. They gradually gain time to where they just get ahead. We’ve had them looked at, but it’s just the nature of the beast,” Ralph said.

The administration tries to keep the clocks as close to the computer time as they can. They constantly sync them in order to do keep them at the same time.

However, it still is not enough. Occasionally, outside companies will come in to put the clocks back on track, but whenever the administration notices the issue, they try to fix it.

It is just one of those things that just happen.
