Mysteries Solved: Closet on the Shelf

Improvements to the school grounds are always highly awaited and one major upgrade is coming soon. Some changes to the Gym Shelf have been made in anticipation of a major construction project to kick off this summer.

After the Prop 4 vote passed to give Rockwood $68.95 million for turf upgrades, repairing of gym floors, new safety precaution installments and upgraded science labs. Turf fields, the new floor in the gym and security installments were quick to happen.

However, the other major project will begin as soon as this school year ends. Major changes to the science labs are planned to begin by end of May 2016  so the labs will be finished hopefully for the new 2016-2017 school year.

The current science area will be completely gutted and new, improved classroom labs will be created. To prepare for the project, a storage closet was created on the shelf.

According to Associate Principal Karen Calcaterra the storage closet was constructed within the last month. The storage area will be used to put away all of the expensive equipment when the workers are updating the science labs.

“We’re ready to get these [labs] done because ours have been in the school for a long time and everyone is ready to get it newly updated and have nicer facilities,” Calcaterra said.
