Last time I… dyed my hair
Christian expresses herself a little differently than most

People all around Lafayette can be seen with dyed hair. Most of them choose a color a few shades lighter or a few darker than their original hair color. But for sophomore Jordan Christian, she dyes it a bit differently.
Christian has dyed her hair three different times with all different colors of the rainbow.
“At first, I dyed it red, then pink, and now it’s purple, so it seems only natural that I will dye it blue next. My hair has progressively gotten darker, and I love trying new colors” Christian said.
Every time that Christian dyes her hair, she does it herself. In order to get those crazy colors to stick in her hair, she must first bleach the previous color out of her hair. Processing hair in this way strips it not only of its color but also strips it of the hair’s natural proteins, damaging the strands.
However, Christian has never had trouble keeping her hair healthy, something unusual for someone who dyes hair as much as she does. Wearing her hair natural most days helps to keep her locks looking healthy.
Christian, like many who dye their hair, does it to express herself in a different way. She always likes her hair to stand out and give herself a unique look.
Although she enjoys looking a little different, she has to take it out for her acro competitions. Christian does not usually look very uniform but makes the exception to compete in the sport she loves.
“Acro combines cheer, gymnastics and dance. As a former gymnast, this sport is perfect for me and always pushes me,” Christian said.
Expressing oneself comes in many form. Christian does that through both her hair and competing in acro.
