Club Spotlight: Digital Media
February 19, 2015
Everyday during 1st hour it’s light, camera, action for Digital Media members. These students follow the rules of journalism, but instead of writing stories they report news through video.
All year long, digital media staffers work to create videos that showcase hot topics in and around Lafayette. Their videos are published on lhsimage.com as well as schooltube.com and often times tweet through links on the LHS Digital Media account (@digitalmediaLHS).
Digital Media is one of few activities offered as a for-credit course.
“I love it because I have such a passion for video editing and production. It’s one of the few classes offered at Lafayette to accommodate my love for production,” Colleen Pavia, senior, said.
Students enrolled in digital media have opportunities that reach far beyond the classroom.
During the fall 2014 semester, publications students were given the opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. and attend numerous workshops to help improve production skills. Next year, publications students have the opportunity to travel to Orlando, FL to grow their digital media knowledge.
“The Digital Media allows me to pursue my career in video-making technology and show my work to others with honest feedback,” Logan Jordan, junior, said.
