Club Spotlight: Craft Club provides creative outlet for Pinterest enthusiasts
Have you ever looked at Pinterest and saw a Do It Yourself (DIY) and just thought, ‘if only I had the time to make this and good company to do it with?’
Well that is exactly what seniors Diana Lee and Amber Park thought about two summers ago when they saw a plethora of crafts on Pinterest that they always wanted to make but never got around to.
This sparked an idea to create a club at Lafayette that incorporates all the fun and creative crafts of Pinterest and create a welcoming environment for people to come together to “make everyday objects into things that can be more personalized and stylish while having the chance to bond with other who share the same interest,” according to Park.
To take the club even further, Craft Club will be combined with Photography Club to provide more variety.
Both clubs are sponsored by Joy Lamb, photography teacher.
“Mrs. Lamb has been really helpful with all of this. I didn’t really know how to start up a club, but she did everything to make the club possible so Diana and I are really thankful for her,” Park said.
As a sneak peak, Craft Club released some of their upcoming projects they will be doing: things to decorate rooms (little lights, garlands, frames, flower vases, etc.), personalized organizational items (pencil holders, DIY chalk/cork boards, jewelry holders, etc.) and fashion forward pieces. The club also hopes to intertwine the Photography Club and Craft Club by actually screen-printing t-shirts as well.
The first meeting is this Thursday, Sept. 12, in Joy Lamb’s room (209). They will meet every other Thursday.
