As only a junior, Lily Johnson has accomplished more than most athletes would hope to in their high school careers. A member of last years State Volleyball champion team, Johnson has received accolades for All State, All District, All Conference and All Region.
lhsimage.com asked Johnson about her current and future volleyball career.
Q: What schools are interested in you?
A: Right now I am actually getting pretty close to hopefully deciding somewhere, but right now it’s down to Missouri State, Mizzou, Dayton, Illinois State and Creighton.
Q: What are you most looking forward to about college volleyball?
A: The game kind of transforms as you get up to that level so it will be a lot more intense and the pace of it will just be a lot faster so I think it will be fun learning a different type of game, so I think just improving from where I am now will be what I most look forward to.
Q: What do you feel are your strengths on the court?
A: I feel like im a pretty good team player, I feel like I do my best to support my teammates on and off the court and Im always enthusiastic every play on the court and I do my best to lead my teammates in the right direction.
Q: How do your chances look for a state repeat?
A: If we do what we need to do and stay focused on one match at a time, I think we will have a lot of success this season.
Q: What will you miss the most about high school volleyball?
A: I think probably my teammates because every year you get so close with your team because you spend all of your time with them every day after school. And we have eight seniors this year and then I’ll be a senior next year so I think I will definitely miss the people that you build relationships with over time, but the good thing is you stay in touch which is why high school is so great.
