Capturing the world around her has turned from a simple hobby into a true passion for junior Sarah Vessell.
After picking up photography in 8th Grade Vessel said, “I got into photography when everyone started taking pictures of themselves for MySpace and Facebook,”
She continued, “At first, I just liked to edit [the pictures] but it gradually turned into me realizing I preferred taking the photos instead.”
While Vessell hasn’t turned her photography skills into a business venture she said she has taken friends’ senior pictures in the past.
However, Vessell has found in her preferences in what she photographs. She explained, “I really enjoy taking pictures of fashion and people, I feel like I can capture those images really well.”
Vessell also said she has yet to invest in a pricier camera but will in the future, she said, “I don’t have a point and shoot [camera] but so far my current [Nikon D3000] camera has worked well.”
Vessell also has expanded her photography skills as Assistant Photo Editor on The Legend yearbook staff this school year.
As for the future, Vessell has big plans for her photography. She said, “I’m going into Photojournalism in college and then we’ll see from there.”
