With an estimated 10,000 reviews written in his lifetime, it’s a safe bet that this guy will tell you if a film is really worth $8.50.

Rolling Stone magazine has always had their finger on the pulse of pop culture so one should expect nothing less from their longtime film Critic Peter Travers. Since joining Rolling Stone in 1989, Travers has written in layman’s terms and never, ever leaves out his opinion. Trust me, he has plenty.

It’s not very often one comes across a film critic who has won a Pulitzer Prize to writing his very own opinion. It’s safe to say that considering Stephan Hunter received his Pulitzer for Criticism in 2003 he established that he should be taken pretty seriously. Hunter has written for several publications like Baltimore Sun, Houston Chronicle, San Francisco Chronicle and Washington Post. And if you needed one more reason to read the guy’s reviews: He’s a Missouri boy born in Kansas City.
Spinning of the always sarcastic, yet humorous magazine The Onion, The A.V. Club would be called an entertainment magazine as well as website brimming with films, music, books, DVDs, comics, etc. Though funny and witty like its “parent publication”, The A.V. Club’s film reviews are good stuff but the writers happen to add just a little more spice to their content.
