Construction on the Pool Doors is complete and student drivers and bus riders are now able to use them. However, the Pool Doors will continue to be closed to parent drop-off and pick-up.

During Open House, senior class president Blake Klosterman gives a speech. The new LPAC group will be replacing class executive boards. This year, the senior executive board will remain, but they will be the last executive board group.
New Lafayette Principal’s Advisory Committee to replace class officer positions
Language arts teacher Jillian Flores won Homecoming Queen at her senior Homecoming in 2006. Flores also said her boyfriend at the time, Tyler Filmore, won Homecoming King, making the night even more special.

On Aug. 15, senior Kate Kilmer went to Mimis Prom dress shop to try on some dresses. The blue dress on the left is the dress Kilmer bought for Homecoming this year. As an influencer for the shop, Kilmer has a promo code and when people use that code, it gives her a discount on her dresses.

During the first Undefined practice of the year, Undefined captain, senior Keira Makalintal, plays an improv game. Makalintal and senior Luke Tipton became Undefined captains to develop their skills. “I prioritize experiences that are enriching for me,” Makalintal said.
New Undefined season premieres with two shows
After winning a trip to Florida, senior Josiah Hickman sits in a Blue Origin crew capsule. Hickman won his trip to Florida and Blue Origin by being named a finalist in Space for the Benefit of Earth Challenge.
Shooting for the stars
In a game against Lindbergh April 18, senior PJ Rogan was on the bump for the Lancers for four innings. While the Lancers lost this game, when they faced Lindbergh the next day, they won 17-3. Going into the May 27 State Quarterfinal game, they are 20-12-1 overall.

Locking arms with her Ladue defender, senior Olivia Williams competes for the ball. Williams is leading the St. Louis area in goals with eight.
Senior leads in field hockey goals, soccer wins in overtime
Junior Ethan Tran serves the ball in a game against Seckman High School on April 6. They swept Seckman 3-0, with Tran leading the team in aces and serves. Overall, the Lancers placed second in the State Championship last season.

The legislation being introduced in Missouri and throughout the US demonizes the LGBTQ+ community. By attending drag shows and other events hosted by members of the LGBTQ+ community, it shows support and validates their experiences.

Week kicks off with PJs, then ends with more formal attire at dance

One of the traditional events of HoCo Week is the parade. Various sport teams and clubs make floats.

In what Student Council hopes will be an enchanting week for the Lancer community, the 2023 Homecoming Week will run Sept. 18-23. The theme is Once Upon A Homecoming. The week will consist of various events such as the Powder Puff football game featuring teams of Senior Women and a halftime show with Male Escadrille.

HoCo Court nominations will be sent out to Rockwood email accounts Sept. 14. The final voting will also be done through email on either Sept. 15 or Sept. 18.

Tickets must be ordered online through the LHS website or by scanning the QR codes located on the STUCO HoCo flier. When prompted, click “Apply Code” and enter student ID number. Ticket prices are $15 for singles and $30 for couples. No tickets will be sold at school or at the door.

The Dress-Up Days and schedule for the week are as follows:

Monday: Sleeping Beauty (PJ Day)

Tuesday: Looking Through the Looking Glass (Mix & Match Day), Lunch Games

Wednesday: You Have a Friend in Me (Twin Day), Lunch Games, Power Puff Football @ 7 p.m. on the Stadium Turf

Thursday: Tale As Old As Time (Throwback Thursday-Class Competition), Lunch Games

Friday: Have Fun Storming The Castle (Spirit Day), Pep Assembly/Parade @ 5:30 p.m., HoCo football game, LHS vs. Parkway West @ 7:15 p.m.

Saturday: HoCo Dance 7:30 – 10 p.m.

Over the summer, signs were added above room doors. This change was implemented throughout the district in order to make the schools easier to navigate in case of a fire emergency.

Gifted education teacher Paige Hartley, Assistant Principal Dr. Kirti Mehrotra, special education teacher Sharon Luedloff and physical education teacher David Witter are leaving after the 2022-23 school year. They have been making plans for after retirement that include time with family, volunteering and traveling.

Just 20 minutes after the Highway Patrol Testing Center opens at 8:20 a.m., a line forms out the door. Sometimes, people show up to wait in line as early as 4:30 a.m.

Hall passes at Lafayette were implemented last school year in response to students roaming the halls after asking to go to the bathroom. However, with the school still having issues with students roaming, the school will be implementing a new blackout time bathroom system.
