Lafayette’s season has been streaky to say the least, but recently the team is stringing together win after win and have put themselves over .500.

On Jan. 20 the team faced off against the Mehlville Panthers and again Adam Flinn put the team on his back to pick up the win. After being down eight at half, Flinn put on a show as the Lancers out scored the Panthers 43-32 in the second half and went on to win, 65-62, in overtime. Flinn scored a season high 28 points and also recorded five rebounds, five assist and two steals. Flinn said after the rough first half, the team “started to push the ball a lot more in transition which lead to easier buckets.”

He sweeps the team leader board in almost every category including team points with 232 on the season, averaging 14.5 points per game, an outstanding 83.1 percent from the free throw line, 80 total rebounds, averaging 4.7 per game and 74 total assist, averaging 4.35 per game.

On Jan. 25, the Lancers had their second meeting against the Parkway South Patriots. In the first meeting, on Jan. 6, Flinn hit a game winning floater to put the dagger in the Patriots. His goal for Wednesdays meeting was to “do the same thing.” But this time around, it was Kory Brubaker who hit an inbound lay up with 17 seconds left to win it 51-50.

The Lancers are now on a six game winning streak headed into the championship game of the Parkway West tournament tonight. They will be facing a tough Hazelwood Central Hawks (12-7) team tonight at 8:30 at Parkway West.
