Social Studies teacher Steve Klawiter will have his AP World History class take the digital exam this May. He said he looks forward to seeing how his students will perform on the exam. “Its been very clear theyre moving towards digital. Since the pandemic started, theyve been putting the pieces in place to go digital, Klawiter said. “I think that ultimately it’s going to be more beneficial because with systems like Canvas and Google Classroom, students are used to more digital activities and less handwriting activities.”

Rockwood School District is currently writing a curriculum for a new womens history course, which will be offered in the 2025-2026 school year. Social studies teacher Jodie Lee will teach it at LHS.

On March 13, the Presidents Forum hosted a “Meet The Candidates” event at the Rockwood School District Administrative Annex. A student from each of Rockwood’s four high schools was chosen to ask candidates three questions and more questions were asked from anonymous PTO members.

Adolescent rates of problem gambling behaviors are double that of adult rates. Cait Huble, Director of Communications at the National Council on Problem Gambling said that this increase could be caused by online games which have blurred the lines between gaming and gambling.

New lacrosse coach seeks to maintain success of prior leadership, improve Lafayette standing
While his father Joe Wier celebrates behind him, senior Andrew Wier kneels down after winning the MSHSAA 190 pound State Title, Feb. 24. Wier finished runner up at State last year, but he came back with a 32-4 record and a State Championship in his senior season. The Lancers finished 2nd as a team at State this year.

At Barnes & Noble, senior Vedika Kumar participated in Blind Date with a Book. During this event, books are wrapped in paper with descriptive words that give a hint about the novel, and individuals are free to choose which one they want to buy.
To the next chapter
After finishing their tests in history teacher Steve Klawiters class, students can participate in an optional trivia section. While Klawiter usually doesnt offer rewards for the highest score on the trivia section, it offers a way for students to decompress after unit tests.
History teacher provides de-stressing activities to students
Freshman Emi Limon competes in the 2022 World Kickboxing and Karate Union Championship in Wales. Even though Limon has only been doing karate for three years, he won four medals at the October competition— a gold medals in Weapons with Music and Korean Forms, a silver medal in Hardstyle Forms and a bronze medal in Weapons with no Music.

The sculpture is part of senior Erica Chen’s AP Art and Design portfolio, which is themed to the impact of technology on people. “It’s based on the fact that things like phones and the internet are so ingrained into our culture that a lot of people can’t imagine living without them, forming a sort of unhealthy reliance,” Chen said.

During Economics and Personal Finance, juniors Hudson Kohler and Ella Manning research stocks as part of a stock market simulation project. For the project, they had to follow a $10,000 budget while teacher Vince DeBlasi gave them advice on what types of stocks to invest in to achieve the highest possible capital gains. The class is designed to help students learn saving and investing strategies and meets the .5 personal finance credit necessary to graduate through the required Missouri Personal Finance Assessment taken during the course.

Because there were no applicants for the open study hall position, In-School Suspension teacher Dale Walker has been supervising the study hall room each day since the beginning of the year, and Student Restore Program teacher Whitney Ralph is supervising students in ISS. “It’s temporary. They’re looking for a permanent teacher to fill in, so they had me move here to have a constant person,” Walker said.
