This week marked the start of several Lancer teams’ first home games of the season. Just a few of the teams included softball, girls volleyball and boys soccer.
After forcing an out in their first home game of the season on Aug. 31, the infield gathers in the pitcher's circle to celebrate. The Lady Lancers shut-out the Parkway South Patriots with a final score of 1-0. The Lady Lancers are already off to a fast start with a 3-1 record.
Keeping her eyes on the ball, junior Hannah Long hits a ground ball down the third base line. Long has a .300 batting average and team high of four RBIs on the season.
While on first base, senior Emma Volmert discusses stealing second base with Assistant Coach Michelle Vaughan. After Volmert stole second, sophomore Kate Sommers hit a double to drive Volmert in and score the only run of the game.
Before the Aug. 30 girls volleyball game against Northwest, senior Staciana Stock is introduced in the team lineup. Only four games into the season, Stock already leads the team with six aces and 26 kills.
At the conclusion of their first home game of the season, the girls volleyball team shake hands with their opponents from Northwest High School. The Lancers defeated the Lions in two sets improving them to a 3-1 record.
Prior to the boys soccer team's first home game of the season on Aug. 24, the team huddles together to hear a speech given by first-year head coach Jason Sellars. In Sellars' first-year leading the Lancers, he's already off to a quick start with a 3-2 record.
In the boys soccer team's first home game of the year, junior Sam Londono races Pattonville midfielder Kyle Campbell to the ball. The Lancers lost the game 1-0, but the team has a 3-2 record.
