Girls basketball competes in MICDS holiday tournament

Junior Sydnie Wolf dribbles down the court to set up a play. The Lady Lancers won 39-34, with Wolf making 16 points.

Over winter break, the girls basketball team played in the MICDS Holiday Tournament.

In the tournament, junior Tara Robbe scored 44 points, had 25 rebounds and was named to the All-Tournament team.

Robbe said the team started the tournament out strong, and they came ready to play for the first two games of the tournament.

However, the Lady Lancers lost their offensive flow in their final game, and they ended up losing in the championship 49-30 against MICDS.

Robbe said, “Although we were hoping to win the championship, we are still happy with the second place finish.”

Last year, the team finished third, and Robbe says the team is trying to get better every year, but she knows they still have room to grow.

“For the rest of the season, we are hoping to play more constant from game to game on both sides of the floor,” Robbe said.

Their next game is Jan. 12 at LHS at 5:30 where they will play Northwest Cedar Hill.
